The Sammy Mutea Tournament Cup, held at Kasunguni School Playgrounds in Kasunguni Sub-location, Zombe Mwitika Ward, concluded successfully yesterday, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Sponsored by Sammy Mutea, the tournament aimed at empowering youth and enhancing their talents through competitive football.
The tournament saw Spartans FC emerge as the champions, taking home Ksh 50,000, a trophy, a new jersey, and a ball. Ngungi FC, the runners-up, were awarded Ksh 20,000, a jersey, and a ball, while Kasunguni FC, finishing third, received Ksh 10,000, a jersey, and a ball. Kimangau FC, who came in fourth, were given Ksh 6,000, a jersey, and a ball, with the fifth-place team receiving Ksh 3,000, a jersey, and a ball. Teams finishing in positions 6 to 12 were each awarded Ksh 2,000 and a jersey.
Individual accolades were also part of the event, with the top scorer, best goalkeeper, and most disciplined player each receiving Ksh 2,000. The tournament was a celebration of local talent and a testament to the power of sports in uniting and uplifting communities.
