Governor Julius Malombe of Kitui has underscored the importance of Kalonzo Musyoka’s role in leading the opposition, emphasizing that his presence is essential for ensuring accountability in President William Ruto’s government.
Speaking at the official opening of the Kitui Agricultural Show and Trade Fair at Ithookwe Showground, attended by tens of thousands, Governor Malombe stated that the Kamba community, along with the Gen-Z and millennial generations, firmly support Kalonzo Musyoka. He emphasized that their allegiance is to a leadership that fights for Kenyan rights and upholds democratic principles.
“Let no one question Kalonzo Musyoka on why he didn’t join President Ruto’s government,” Malombe declared. “Kenyans need him to lead the opposition and ensure accountability.”
As a representative of the Wiper party, Malombe asserted that they would not heed calls to join Ruto’s government, maintaining their stance as a government-in-waiting for the 2027 elections. He assured that while he is committed to welcoming President Ruto to Kitui as the head of state , he remains steadfast in his dedication to his community’s interests.
Governor Malombe also issued a stern warning to opportunistic leaders from Ukambani who have been contemplating aligning with Ruto’s government for personal gain. He criticized these leaders for attempting to auction the Kamba community, stressing that their actions do not reflect the community’s will. According to Malombe, the only voice that represents the true interests of the Kamba people is that of Kalonzo Musyoka, the Wiper leader and a principal figure in the Azimio coalition.
Malombe’s remarks highlight a significant moment for the Kamba community, as they navigate the political landscape under the firm guidance of Kalonzo Musyoka, aiming to ensure a just and accountable government in Kenya.
