Transport operations on the Machakos-Kangundo road came to a standstill as the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) intervened to clear fallen rock debris, obstructing a section of the road amid adverse weather conditions. The closure at Kyamwilu point, prompted by looming danger, compelled motorists to seek alternative routes. The rock debris, dislodged by heavy rainfall, heightened concerns of a potential rockslide, necessitating swift action from authorities. Additionally, the closure impacted local youths who rely on showcasing the gravity-defying phenomenon at Kyamwilu Hill, a popular tourist attraction along the route. This comes after KeNHA previously issued warnings to motorists about potential hazards posed by falling rock debris at Kaloleni.
