Fr. Julius Muthamba has expressed deep concern over the financial challenges plaguing schools across Kenya, attributing the ongoing crisis to poor leadership.
Speaking at the first-grade graduation ceremony of Holy Family Parochial School in Kabati, Fr. Muthamba lamented that inadequate management had severely impacted the operations of many public schools, causing widespread distress.
He urged the government to prioritize pressing issues like education, rather than focusing on political conflicts, which he described as a misuse of time and resources.
Fr. Muthamba also called on parents to take an active role in their children’s lives during the upcoming long holiday, stressing the importance of instilling moral values. He advised parents and guardians to teach their children good behavior to ensure their safety and well-being while at home.
Kitui West Sub-County Director of Education, Olivia Mulwa, echoed Fr. Muthamba’s concerns, while adding that ongoing recruitment of junior secondary teachers would improve staffing levels and enhance the quality of education.
A senior teacher at Holy Family Parochial School also underscored the need for urgent action, emphasizing that quality education is crucial for the future success of students.
