Machakos County Governor, Her Excellency Wavinya Ndeti, has vehemently dismissed circulating reports on social media alleging her entanglement in a financial scandal in the United Kingdom. The claims suggest that Governor Ndeti was stranded in the UK due to an inability to explain the origin of a substantial cash deposit.
Governor Ndeti has branded these accusations as baseless propaganda, orchestrated by political adversaries unsettled by the sweeping reforms she has introduced in Machakos County.
The rumors, which surfaced from an unidentified source, also implicated her son, Charlie Oduwale, in an alleged arrest in the UK for being in possession of KSh 676 million.
According to this fake reports, Oduwale failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the funds. However, these assertions have since been proven false, with Governor Ndeti denouncing them as malicious fabrications. She attributes the spread of such misinformation to political opponents eager to tarnish her reputation ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial race.
Governor Ndeti took to her social media platforms to unequivocally refute these allegations, reassuring the people of Machakos that her administration remains committed to safeguarding public resources.
She emphasized that her stringent measures against corruption, including sealing all loopholes for public funds misappropriation, have disrupted long-standing avenues for embezzlement, angering those who previously benefited from corrupt practices.
Highlighting the significant strides her administration has made, Governor Ndeti proudly pointed to Machakos County’s unprecedented revenue collection of KSh 1.7 billion, a first since the advent of devolution. She underscored her dedication to ensuring that every coin is used for the benefit of Machakos residents, vowing to continue her relentless efforts toward transparency and accountability.
In response to the defamatory claims, Governor Ndeti has confirmed that she will pursue legal action against the perpetrators of the false narrative. She warned those responsible to prepare to substantiate their claims in court, reaffirming her unwavering resolve to protect her name and the integrity of her office.
Governor Ndeti’s rebuttal stands as a firm declaration of her intention to continue championing the interests of Machakos County, undeterred by the smear campaigns of her political foes.
The situation took a dramatic turn following the arrest of Governor Wavinya’s son, Charlie Oduwale, who was found in possession of a staggering Ksh. 679 million. Oduwale’s inability to satisfactorily account for the origins of such a significant sum of money led to his detention by UK authorities, further complicating the governor’s position.
In a bid to clear her name and resolve the situation, Governor Ndeti explained to British authorities that the funds were intended for the Machakos County Government. She asserted that the money had been allocated for the construction of a Level 5 hospital meant to serve Machakos residents residing abroad. Despite these clarifications, UK authorities remain skeptical, intensifying the scrutiny surrounding the attempted transaction.
This is not the first instance in which the Machakos Governor has encountered difficulties in banking large sums internationally. Reports indicate that she has previously managed to deposit significant amounts in foreign countries such as Dubai, China, and France, raising persistent questions about the origin and purpose of these funds.
As the investigation continues, the situation remains unresolved, casting a shadow over Governor Ndeti’s financial dealings and drawing attention to the broader issue of cross-border banking and money laundering concerns.
