Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe (EGH) today hosted a high-profile delegation from the National Housing Corporation (NHC) at his office’s boardroom. The delegation was led by Hon. Benard Parsaloi and comprised key members of the Ad Hoc Committee, tasked with addressing debts inherited from defunct local authorities in Kenya’s Central and Eastern regions.
The visit by the NHC Board and Management marks a critical phase in ongoing discussions aimed at settling these debts, which have weighed heavily on regional development efforts. During the meeting, the leaders also delved into the strategic partnerships necessary for advancing housing projects, underlining the need for meticulous planning and strict adherence to established land use policies and frameworks.
Governor Malombe, known for his forward-thinking approach, emphasized the county’s commitment to ensuring that all development aligns with sustainable urban planning standards. His administration’s focus on proper planning and land use underscores a broader vision of transforming Kitui into a model of organized urban growth.
The discussions were further enriched by the presence of several key county officials, including CEC Members Fredrick Kimanga, Peter Kilonzo, and Eng. Robert Itiko. Also in attendance were Chief Officers Evans Mutemi and Eng. Chamia, who oversee Urban Development and Roads & Public Works, respectively. Their input highlighted the county’s integrated approach to infrastructure development and the critical role of intergovernmental collaboration in achieving these goals.
As the NHC delegation continues its tour of the Central and Eastern regions, the outcomes of this meeting are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of housing and urban development in Kitui and beyond.
