Tomorrow Sunday 25th August 2024, all eyes will be on Kasunguni Primary School Grounds as it hosts the eagerly anticipated Southern Cross Tournament Finals, generously sponsored by Sammy Mutea.
The event promises to be a vibrant showcase of grassroots football, bringing together passionate teams from Zombe and Mwitika for a day of thrilling matches and community spirit.
The tournament, a testament to the dedication of local football enthusiasts and the generosity of its sponsors, offers an impressive array of prizes.
The champions will walk away with Ksh. 50,000, a trophy, a pair of jerseys, and a ball. The runner-up will receive Ksh. 20,000, a pair of jerseys, and a ball. Third place is rewarded with Ksh. 10,000, a pair of jerseys, and a ball, while fourth place will earn Ksh. 6,000, a jersey, and a ball. The fifth place team will receive Ksh. 3,000, a pair of jerseys, and a ball.
Teams finishing in positions six through twelve will each get Ksh. 2,000, a ball, and a jersey.
The tournament also acknowledges individual excellence. The top scorer, best goalkeeper, and the most disciplined player will each receive Ksh. 2,000.
Referees, whose critical role ensures fair play, will be compensated Ksh. 600 per day officiated.
