Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has confirmed the dismissal of Stephen Makau Musili, popularly known as Kivunzi, from his position as Chief Officer for the Ministry of Land in Kitui County. This decision follows allegations of corruption that have been the subject of intense speculation.
Governor Malombe detailed that Kivunzi had promised to secure a contract for an unnamed woman in exchange for a bribe. The woman allegedly paid Kivunzi KSh 2 million to facilitate the deal. However, when the contract was not secured, she reported the incident to the relevant authorities.
Upon review of the evidence, Kivunzi was found guilty of the allegations. He was given an opportunity to defend himself in person, but the evidence against him led to his dismissal. The findings were reported to Governor Malombe, who then proceeded with the termination.
In a strong stance against corruption, Governor Malombe stated that any county officer found engaging in corrupt practices would face immediate dismissal. He emphasized the importance of integrity within his administration, asserting that unethical behavior would not be tolerated
