President William Ruto has urged the establishment of a School of Leadership at the University of Nairobi, emphasizing its importance in developing specialized skills in climate action, finance, and renewable energy. Ruto called on the Global Centre on Adoption (GCA), chaired by Ban Ki-Moon, to support this initiative.
The president made this announcement during discussions with the former UN Secretary-General in Seoul, South Korea. Ban Ki-Moon, who also serves as the president and chairperson of the Global Green Growth Institute, expressed interest in the proposal.
Ruto highlighted the significance of Africa’s growing influence in climate action and financing. “To maintain this momentum, it is crucial for us to enhance our capacity in various fields of expertise,” he stated.
President Ruto is currently attending the South Korea-Africa summit in Seoul, joining other African leaders at the event. South Korea is the latest developed nation to host an Africa Summit, bringing together a large gathering of continental leaders.
This marks President Ruto’s second major event on the international stage this year, following his participation in the Italy-Africa summit in January.
