Kenyan radio personality Fyah Mummah Jahmby Koikai has died after a long battle with Endometriosis.
Friends and family confirmed her passing on Tuesday morning while she was receiving treatment in the Nairobi Hospital ICU.
Koikai had publicly appealed for blood donations just three days before her passing. She requested blood type O+ on her Instagram stories.
“Hi fam, I’m currently admitted at the pioneer ward Nairobi hospital and I kindly need Blood O positive. Kindly asking for blood donors for Mary Njambi Koikai,” she wrote.
In a heartfelt message on her social media just days ago, Koikai made a plea to Kenyan leaders, particularly President William Ruto who was visiting the US. She urged him to consider investing in healthcare facilities specializing in endometriosis treatment.
Koikai detailed her own struggles with the disease, explaining how misplaced endometrial tissue caused her lungs to collapse monthly and required numerous surgeries. She highlighted the 17 years it took to get a diagnosis and the lack of treatment options readily available in Kenya.
Koikai bravely shared the toll the disease took on her body, revealing that the misplaced tissue had spread to her teeth, heart, appendix, and spine. She also spoke out about the impact of endometriosis and adenomyosis on fertility.
