Ian Njoroge, who allegedly assaulted a police officer during a traffic stop in Mirema, has been presented for arraignment at the Milimani Law Courts. According to his lawyer, Duncan Okatch, Njoroge will be charged with robbery with violence, assault causing grievous bodily harm, and resisting arrest.
Okatch stated that they will request cash bail for Njoroge, noting that he is a student. Njoroge will appear before Magistrate BenMark. Following the arraignment for the criminal charges, sources indicate that Njoroge will also be taken to the traffic court to face three additional counts.
Njoroge was dramatically arrested on Sunday evening at his home in the Jacaranda area of Kayole, Nairobi, during an operation led by the Nairobi area DCI. He later claimed that his actions were driven by rage after the officer allegedly demanded an unaffordable bribe.
