At the National Prayer Breakfast today at Safari Park Hotel Nairobi, President William Ruto openly dismissed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s proposal for revenue allocation based on population size. Instead, President Ruto called for equal treatment of all regions in Kenya, regardless of their population, to ensure balanced national development.
Ruto’s statement starkly contrasts with Gachagua’s stance, highlighting a growing division within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). The president emphasized that equitable distribution is crucial for fostering inclusive growth and development across all parts of the country.
This public disagreement has further fueled speculation about a deepening rift within the UDA, with factions forming around the two leaders. One camp supports Gachagua’s population-based revenue sharing, while the other aligns with Ruto’s call for equal treatment of all regions. The visible discord raises concerns about the unity and future cohesion of the ruling party.
