Kitui County Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has announced his intention to seek a second term in the 2027 general elections, citing the Constitution’s provisions. In his statement, Dr. Malombe emphasized his commitment to restoring Kitui’s former glory and addressing the challenges left by former Governor Charity Ngilu’s administration.
Dr. Malombe criticized Ngilu’s leadership, claiming her tenure was marked by mismanagement and corruption. He dismissed Ngilu’s aspirations to run again in 2027, arguing that her past governance left the county in a dire state. Malombe asserted that his administration has been diligently working to revive Kitui’s economy, which he said had suffered significantly under Ngilu’s regime.
Labeling Ngilu as a “corrupt queen,” Malombe accused her of misusing county funds for personal gain and leaving the county impoverished with little development to show for her five years in office. He urged the people of Kitui to reject leaders with self-serving agendas and to support his administration’s efforts to ensure prudent use of public resources for the benefit of the county’s residents.
Malombe assured that, if re-elected, he would continue his efforts to transform Kitui’s economy and establish a legacy of trustworthy leadership. He promised that his government would prioritize the well-being of the people and manage public funds responsibly to foster economic growth.
