A total of 153,301 candidates who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations in 2023 are gearing up to pursue degree programs. According to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), 134,743 of these candidates are set to join public universities, while 18,558 have opted for private institutions.
Among the candidates, 7,800 students who attained a grade of C+ and above have chosen to pursue diploma courses, indicating a diverse range of educational pathways being pursued by the cohort.
This significant number of candidates transitioning to higher education underscores the growing demand for tertiary education in Kenya and highlights the importance of access to quality educational opportunities for the nation’s youth.
