Washington, D.C. President William Ruto is set to join U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday, May 24, for a moderated conversation at the U.S.-Kenya Business Forum, a prominent event organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Africa Business Center.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced on Monday that the forum will spotlight the burgeoning economic ties between the United States and Kenya, with a particular focus on technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Vice President Harris, a committed advocate for advancing innovation and entrepreneurship across Africa, will highlight efforts to boost digital inclusion on the continent. Her address will build on her recent visits to Africa in March and April 2023, during which she underscored the importance of public and private sector investments. In Lusaka, Zambia, Harris convened with business and philanthropic leaders to further digital inclusion initiatives, bolstering the over $8 billion already invested in the region.
President Ruto’s U.S. visit aims to attract increased investment from the United States to support Kenya’s development goals. His agenda includes meetings with President Joe Biden, congressional leaders, and key discussions at Capitol Hill, where he will stress the importance of U.S.-Kenya collaboration in fostering economic growth.
Ruto departed Kenya on Sunday night, with his first engagement slated for Monday evening.
